Kgalagadi Eco Holiday Trail

Overview

7 Night ( plus 1 bonus night ) breakaway, no cell reception, African bush sounds and starry nights. An easy pace with short driving days. Just chill…….If that is on your list of things to do for 2020, this tour is for you.

Every few years I plan a tour with the Polentswa 4×4 eco trail. It is just one of those places that needs to visited every now and again, like Piper pan, it helps with the soul….

Our tour is a combination of camping with electricity in Sanparks sites and bush nights on the Botswana side. And yes, no passport needed as we stay inside the transfrontier park.

I will erect a bush shower for our two bush nights, so keeping clean is no problem. There are water in all main camps and we only need to take a container of water for the 2 nights. A 20 litre would do per vehicle.

Your experience would include driving the Botswana Polentswa eco trail for 3 days. Sit under the stars around a the camp fire at night and experience the bush noises.

Some of my best camp experiences I had on this trail.

So if you are looking for something about a week long, balance of bush and glamping, eco solitude, and soul rejuvenating? This is it. Don’t delay because it is exclusive and I can only take 10 guests.

The Itinerary

Day 1

We arrive at our first night stop on the way to Kgalagadi. We meet in Uppington.

Day 2, blue

After breakfast and our last bit of shopping we set off to Kgalagadi. After the paperwork at Twee Rivieren we head up towards Mata Mata for the night. We stop at the Aukolonie house and I share the History of the park and the area with you.

An enjoyable game viewing afternoon rounded off with a pleasant night at Mata Mata.

Day 3, red

We head over to Nossob on a short days drive with a bit of game viewing peppered in for fun. We sleep in the legendary Nossob camp for two nights.

Day 4, green

This could be a rest day if you wanted one, or travel north with me to Unions end for the day. Game viewing, coffee stops, lunch and the works.

Day 5, purple

After breakfast we head north and turn in to the Polentswa Eco trail. Private for us for the next 3 days, this is a route that has to be done if you haven’t yet. Relaxed and fun, a real bush experience. We sleep in Sesatswe, the eco camp on the trail.

Day 6, purple

Another relaxed game viewing day, and we continue on with the eco trail. We stop at KAA gate for water before completing the day and clock in at Lang Rambuka Eco camp for the night.

Day 7, purple

After a lovely eco night under the clear skies, we complete the route and head towards Nossob for our last night.

Day 8, yellow, ( Bonus night )

We make our way south to exit the park but as a bonus I will treat you to another night and we sleep at Twee Rivieren. If you want to head straight back you are welcome to otherwise we head out of the park in the morning.
