Trans Botswana Extended 2019
Botswana is one of those tours that always produces the goods. It is one of the areas in the world where the country is still very open to animal migration. No fences, no interference and wild.
It is a place where a road of 20 years might need to be rerouted because of Mother Nature interfering with its path. It is a place where wild still means wild.
We visit some of the best spots in Botswana. From Khama Rhino to Central Kalahari, to the Okavango Delta, Chobe, Linyante and all the way up to the top.
Many people start their safari experience with this tour as we have good shops and restaurants during the tour.
I have also extended the tour to give you a little more bang for your buck.
If you want to try it out this is the one.
This is where our journey start. We meet at the legendary Khama Rhino Sanctuary. A restaurant is available if you do not want to cook.
After breakfast we set off to Lekhubu Island. This is an experience to remember. If you have not been there, it is time to go! We spend the night at the island.
We leave the island and cross the Makgadigadi pans. We stop for coffee at the now “fallen over” Chapmans baobab. Believe it or not but it is still alive and growing.
From here to Rakops for fuel and then in to the Central Kalahari for two nights.
We take the day and do the full circle route, Down with Letihua valley, up at Tau, into Passarge, Leopard and Sundays and back to Deception. Coffee and lunch on this relaxed game viewing day.
We head north to Maun. We stop for groceries and fuel, before heading to camp. Here we will be for three nights.
We drive in to a private concession area for the day. A nice relaxed day game viewing.
Another relaxed game viewing day, this time inside the Moremi. We visit the bridges and probably the Blackpool area.
From here we set off to the Chobe park. Our first Night is at the legendary Savuti campsite. We visit the rock art and see if the Savuti swamp still has some water left.
We head across to the Linyante area for our second night in the park.
It is a short hop to get out of the park and we head to Kasane town for groceries and fuel.
We head back to the Chobe river and drive the river section of the park. In the afternoon a sunset cruise to complete the tour in an appropriate manner.
I head back to Johannesburg very early.
