Richtersveld & Namaqua 4x4, 2022

Overview

Yes, it is true. I often get comments about, “why do you want to join a group?” Well I think the biggest reason for joining a group is for sharing experiences with our fellow humans. We are social creatures after all. What is better than enjoying a glass of wine after a day with 4×4 driving, spectacular views and finally peace and quiet, camping in an ancient setting.

You find yourself again. You also find a few pieces of yourself that was missing for a long time. You have the opportunity to measure yourself against the magic of our planet, walking amongst the rocks admired by ancient tribes for the last 80 000 years.

The “fishing contest” has reached its conclusion and a clear winner was not even discussed. It did not matter. It was fun.

This tour has the perfect balance of a bit of 4×4 driving, stunning campsites, geological wows and yes a bit of fishing if you want. One of the only places to catch the small mouth Yellowfish, and we had some big ones!

Following the great Orange river in its final thrushes to get to the Atlantic, adds to the romance and the contrast.

Early arrivals and late departures to our campsites just gives a real feel of holiday, relaxing and rest. Alternated with a bit of 4×4 driving, ending on the magnificent Atlantic shores and enjoying a seafood meal with freshly baked bread, this tour is fast becoming one of my favourites.
