Botswana Blitz, Mkgadigadi & Okavango Delta

Botswana Blitz is one of those tours that captures the heart of Botswana in a few days. It is one of the areas in the world where the country is still very open to animal migration. No fences, no interference and wild.

It is a place where a road of 20 years might need to be rerouted because of Mother Nature interfering with its path. It is a place where wild still means wild.

Our tour aims to experience the contrast of the Mkgadigadi pans, with its moon scape and the very strange Kubu Island, with the wet Okavango Delta.

Many people start their safari experience with this tour as it is not too long and covers some of the best wilderness areas in the world.

Your experience would include driving on the worlds largest combined salt flat, riding on a boat on the very unique inland delta. Sit under the stars around a the camp fire at night and experience the bush noises.

The Itinerary

Day 1

We make an early departure and head out to the Botswana Border. Tonight we will sleep at the legendary Khama Rhino Sanctuary. A restaurant is available if you do not want to cook.

Day 2

After breakfast we set off to Lekhubu Island. This is an experience to remember. If you have not been there, it is time to go! We spend the night at the island. We drive on the Mkgadigadi pans and climb on to the granite rocks at Kubu Island. A night here, is a night to remember.

Day 3

We leave the island and cross the Makgadigadi pans. We stop for coffee at the now “fallen over” Chapmans baobab and see the growth progress of a fallen Baobab. Believe it or not but it is still alive and growing.

From here on to Maun where we stock up and relax for the night.

Day 4

The next morning we set off to the Okavango Delta, we will camp here for three nights. In the afternoon a game drive in a concession area, we are looking for the Kaziikini pride of lions.

Day 5

This is a long but exciting day. We head out to do a boat ride on the Delta. We pack our lunches and enjoy a few hours on the Okavango Delta in an aluminium boat. We look for Elephants, birds, crocks, hippos and whatever we can find.

Day 6

Another relaxed game viewing day, again inside the Moremi. We visit the Blackpool area. This area is normally rich in birdlife and the famous Xini pride of Lions
