Zimbabwe 2025 Itinerary
General Daily Itinerary:
Our daily activities will basically be structured as follows.
Morning Departure:
I generally leave camp one and a half hour after sunrise. This is an attempt for people not to need lights when packing up and is both a safety and comfort arrangement. This exact time will be provided on the day before and will change depending on the activities or length of the next day.
Morning coffee stop:
We will stop for a coffee break of about 30 mins, 2 to 2.5 hrs from departure, depending on the day. I will boil a kettle and you need to provide your own mug, coffee, tea, milk, sugar etc. I will provide the water.
Lunch Stop:
We will stop for lunch for about 45 mins, about 2 to 2.5 hours after coffee stop, depending on the day. Again I will boil a kettle for those that wants hot water.
Afternoon Stop:
Very seldom needed as we should arrive in camp by now, but it will be arranged on the day if needed.
Arrival in camp:
I try to be in camp, at the latest 2 hours before sunset. This off course has a lot to do with the day and events of the day.
I will check how many of the group is braaing and make an appropriate fire to be ready for braaing at around sunset.
Please remember to bring your own braai grid.
Our tour itinerary:
Day 1, as per the groups list in the dashboard.
We meet at Nata Lodge for the first night. I normally drive from home and arrive around sunset.
Report to reception and announce yourself as a member of the Bluerhino group. Then proceed to the campsite.
Nata lodge has a good restaurant if you were interested.
Otherwise, please sort yourself out for this first night as far as food goes. If you are braaing this night, take your own wood or charcoal.
Day 2,
Depart from our campsite and make our way to the border at Pandamatenga.
We cross in to Zimbabwe and then stop for our coffee break after the border.
From there we drive to Robins camp in Hwange where we enter the park and then off to Masuma dam for two nights.
Day 3,
This is technically an off day. We are at Masuma dam for two nights and at one of the best hides in our region.
You get up at whatever time you want sit at the waterhole for however long you want.
I will go out for a drive of a few hours during the mid day, join me or sit at the hide is your choice.
Day 4,
We depart from our campsite and head to Sinamatela campsite in Hwange. We drive a few backroads for the day.
Day 5,
We make our way out of Hwange park and head to Hwange town. We fill vehicles with fuel and do a bit of grocery shopping as needed.
About an hour should be enough to get this done. Then we depart to the town of Binga on lake Kariba where we camp for the night.
Day 6,
We depart from Binga and take a gravel road on the southern side of lake Kariba, We make our way to Matusadona national park.
Day 7,
We spend the day in Matusadona national park. Again this is a bit of an off day and we are under big shade trees.
I will go out for a game drive during the day, but we will not overdo it.
Day 8,
We make our way out of the park and head further east towards Mana Pools.
They have a rule where you must be at the office by about 3pm to be able to drive in to the park in daylight. This is our aim.
However if anything unforseen happens we will sleep at the Mana pools gate as a backup.
If all goes to plan we arrive in Mana pools for 3 nights.
Day 9, 10
We have two days in the park and we do game drives in an unstructured way. I will go out every day for a drive, but you are welcome to get up at any time and drive around the park by yourself.
Or just chilling and reading a book in the shade and enjoying the campsite on the Zambezi river.
Day 11,
We depart from Mana Pools and head towards Harare. We turn just before the city and head to our overnight stop, Eye on the wild. An animal sanctuary.
Day 12,
We travel further south east and arrive at the Great Zimbabwe ruins.
If you have not done the tour before, the tour is about 2 hours and included. However if you have done the tour before you may skip it and head to camp directly.
After the tour we head to our campsite for the night, Norma Jeans.
Day 13,
Today we make our way to Gonarezhou. We camp at Chipinda pools for 3 nights.
Day 14, 15,
Two days to explore the park. We will visit the cliffs, pools and rivers sections.
Picnics, lunches and just chilling.
The third night is also our last night on tour.
Day 16,
We will have an early departure from our campsite as we are heading for Beitbridge. If you want to use a different border or hang around in Zim you are welcome to and I will be glad to discuss it with you.
Otherwise we head to the Beitbridge border where we say our goodbyes and go our own way.
It should take us about 7 hours to get to the border, so you can work on being in Musina at about 3pm.
