Central Kalahari Botswana Adventure 2024

Overview

Everytime I look at the picture above, I remember the special day we had, witnessing a mother on the left, sending her boy, on the right, in to the world. The eons old ritual played out in front of us, sitting at Passarge pan in the Central Kalahari game reserve. It was super special and a unique experience that I will never forget.

You can travel all the parks in Africa and not find the same experience as you do in this ancient lake, the Kalahari sandveld. The sandy bushveld conditions with less than 500mm annual rainfall lends itself to the most pristine experience.

The Central is in its winter dress with plenty of animals on the plains and dry river beds. Giraffe, oryx, wildebeest and springbok.

We spend the days driving through the valleys, look for badgers scratching in the ground, the very illusive Aardwolf and Brown Hyena. We meander over the dunes enjoying a bit of sand driving. ( don’t worry you will not get stuck ) In the evenings we chill under the stars by the campfire. We bring our heart rates back down to normal, we breathe the fresh clean air of our lovely blue planet.

This is a detox experience like no other, your body will thank you.

I keep the tour small and exclusive, first come first served, we are only allowed a small number of people in our group in the park. Don’t miss out!

The Itinerary

Day 1. 1 August 2024

We meet at our campsite near Lethlakane in Botswana for our first night. I am coming from Maun to meet you in Lethlakane where we make sure to have all our groceries and fuel sorted.

Day 2.

After breakfast we set off towards Central Kalahari. We head for Deception Valley and then on to Sunday pan for our first night in the park. This is one of the iconic areas of wilderness in the world.

Day 3.

We make our way down to Piper pan. We follow the Letihau river, stop for coffee stops and just breathe the air. Piper pan is one of those bucket list camp sites. We will spend 2 nights here to relax.

Day 4.

We have the day to relax, so if you wanted to do a potjie or a big brunch this is it. We will go for a drive around the pans for those who feels like it, otherwise read a book or just chill.

Day 5.

We pack up and move on to the Passarge valley area. This is where the lion photos above was taken. From here on to the Motopi area for the night. Most tourists don’t realise it, but this is statistically the most active area of the park.

Day 6.

After breakfast we head up through Passarge valley and on to Sunday pan for our last night.

Day 7

We pack up and move out of the park and on to some shopping and fuel. We head to our campsite on the way home. We sleep at Khama Rhino sanctuary for our last night.

Day 8

First light I start heading home to JHB
