Richtersveld 2020 Itinerary

Day 1, 12 March 2020

17h00 We meet at Die Mas campsite in Kakemas for our first night. A restaurant is available in town ( 10 mins away) for dinner. 

Day 2, 

9h00 Depart from our campsite and make our way to Augrabies falls. We visit the falls and take a look around. 

The falls has a small coffee shop and we can take lunch there.

14h00 We depart and head for Klein Pella for the night.

16h30 Arrive at our campsite .

Day 3

9h00 We break up camp and head off for a Namaqua 4×4 drive day, hugging the Orange river and following it down stream until we reach our camp at Ramansdrift as on this picture above.

Stop for coffee and lunch as needed.

16h00 Arrive at our campsite.

Day 4.

8h30 Depart from our campsite and continue our tour on the Namaqua 4×4 section.

10h30 Stop for a coffee break 

12h30    Stop for lunch 

16h00    Arrive at our campsite Bushwacked in Vioolsdrift.

Day 5

8h00 Depart from our campsite and continue on to the Richtersveld via the back roads.

10h30 Stop for a coffee break 

12h30    Stop for lunch 

15h00    Arrive Richtersveld gate, check in and head to our first night at de Hoop campsite.

Day 6

We take an off day and relax next to the river. Bring your swimming attire as there are many people taking a dip or spend the day fishing or just read a book.

Day 7

9h30 Depart from our campsite and make our way to Kokerboomkloof campsite, one of the most stunning sites in the park.

Coffee and lunch as required.

Day 8

7h30 Depart from our campsite and we start the exit road to leave the park. A scenic drive by itself.

10h00 We stop for coffee.

12h30 We are out of the park and stop for lunch.

15h00 Arrive at Port Nolloth for fuel and groceries.

17h00 We arrive at Hondeklipbay Skulpieskraal for the night. We are in their tents for the night.

19h00 Seafood dinner tonight. Included in the cost. A great dinner.

Day 9

We drive firther south and head in to the West coast National park. A relaxed drive down the beach with lovely seaviews.

This is our last night

Day 10, 21 March

8h00 Depart from our campsite and head south towards Vredendal.

11h00 We arrive in Vredendal and our tour concludes.

Day 1, 21 March 2020

17h00 From Vredendal we continue our tour and head to Sutherland. We should arrive in camp around 5 pm.

In the evening we have a stargazing experience included in the tour.

Day 2,

9h00 Depart from our campsite and make our way to well known R62

We drive the very scenic route past Montaque and end up in Barrydale where we stop for lunch and a look around.

From there we proceed to our camp which is just across the road from Ronnies sex shop.

The hot spring for the evening could be a nice change in scenery. The falls has a small coffee shop and we can take lunch there.

Day 3

9h00 We break up camp and head off for the 7 passes route that starts just outside George.

Stop for lunch at the mall in George for some shopping and lunch.

From there the back roads on the 7 passes route to Knysna.

17h00 Arrive at our campsite.

There are a multitude of Restaurants in town if you feel like it.

Day 4.

8h30 Depart from our campsite and start our journey north on the Prince Alfred pass.

10h30 Stop for a coffee break 

12h30    Stop for lunch at Angies G-spot. Very good burgers here. From here we continue 

16h00    Arrive at our campsite at the entrance to the Baviaans.

Day 5

7h30 Depart from our campsite and continue in to the Baviaans

10h30 Stop for a coffee break 

12h30    Stop for lunch 

16h00    We exit the Baviaans and head to camp for the night.

Day 6

8am We depart from camp heading ADDO elephant park. We enter the park and drive around for a bit of game viewing.

We stop for coffe and lunch as the day unfolds.

17h00 We arrive in camp in Addo.

Day 7

7h00 An early departure for a long day as we are driving the Bedrogfontein 4×4 eco route. One of the most spectacular routes in the country.

We stop for coffee and Lunch as time allows and ultimately pop out at a northern gate of the park.

We exit the park and make our way to the Mountain Zebra park near Cradock.

17h00 Arrive at Mountain Zebra for our last night. 

Day 8, 28 March 2020

I am departing for JHB as soon as the gates open, but your are welcome to hang back and spend another day in the park or just depart a bit later.

We meet here at Die Mas Campsite outside Kakemas
